About Aya
Aya (she/her) is a ritualist, herbalist and educator pursuing rabbinic ordination at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (ordination expected May 2024), and launching Revayah, an earth-based Jewish initiative. She serves Congregation Beth Israel as a Rabbinic Intern and is a project consultant for Jewish organizations striving to integrate spiritual ecological programming into their communities. She is currently supporting a local congregation design and launch a forest based Hebrew School. Recently, she co-authored two self-guided earth based Jewish practice guides: the Azazel Chapbook, a Yom Kippur mini-mahzor, and Tiny Tevet Treasures eBook with the Shamir Collective. Her deepest passion lies in guiding wilderness-based rites of passage experiences, which was central to her work for the decade prior to beginning rabbinical school, most notably through six years of leadership at Wilderness Torah, in addition to work with several other JOFEE organizations. Aya lives on Lenni Lenape land also known as Philadelphia, where she grew up. She can often be found watching the sunset from her roof, or giggling with her 1 year old.
